I couldn’t believe it. We were preparing a peruvian dish! After talking to mom on the phone to tell her what we were doing, I had to put my hands to work because my turkish friend was waiting for me to finish the preparation before midnight.
Honestly, this June weather is overwhelming us. But as it motivates us to get out of our bedrooms, we went to the supermarket to get some stuff to (FINALLY!) prepare my first peruvian dish in Romania. We did not find every ingredient we wanted, but we followed every step. Special thanks to MaaaRico for the tutorial. For any peruvian in a foreign country, this Facebook page helps a lot!
Ali, he gets all the credits. He was the cook. Of course, he followed my insistent recommendations of how my mom cooks at home. We made it: Aji de gallina! Unfortunately there was no Inca Kola (peruvian soda), no Chicha Morada (purple corn juice), no lemonade (with peruvian lemons) or any peruvian beer to be a true peruvian meal. But we drank Ayran, a turkish drink made with yogurt, water and salt. Very refreshing! (If you like to try new things, this is a MUST!)
I felt very satisfied and happy to taste something with that home smell we all like when we know we are home. But do you know what made me happier? That I didn’t have to say: let’s buy a pizza because our food sucks! 🙂
